FAQ
How do fic fests work?
Every fic fest has their own unique rules and processes, but this is the basic structure:
1. Prompting: Prompts are submitted to the fest.
2. Claiming: Writers choose a prompt for their fic.
3. Writing: Writers write a fic based on the prompt and submit it by the Fic Submission Deadline - at this point, the fics are not revealed to the public.
Once the fics are submitted, it’s reveal time!
4. Fic reveals: The works are revealed, but the authors are still anonymous.
5. Author reveals: The authors of the works are revealed.Answers to Questions regarding:
🍊RULES
What does Parent/Child to Lovers mean?
Parent/Child to lovers means a parental figure and child -> lovers. So a situation where they meet when one of them is a child and the other takes care of them, and when the child grows up, they fall in love.
Is MPreg allowed?
MPreg is allowed but only because I want to give people as much freedom as possible with tropes that are enjoyed by many. To write this trope, proper research is required. This is to be considerate towards the trans/intersex community as much as possible. Please keep in mind that this is a very risky trope to write because of the possible backlash.🍊PROMPTS
How do I submit a prompt?
To submit a prompt, you will need an AO3 account. A link to the form will be posted on Twitter when Prompting begins, and you just have to fill it out! Or, you can just go to the AO3 Collection directly and find the form there.
If you do not have an AO3 account, submit your prompt through Google Forms. The link will be provided along with the AO3 Prompt Form on Twitter.
Will there be self-prompts?
Yes, it will be added at the end of the Prompting period. There is no limit to the number of people who can claim a self-prompt.🍊WRITING
The prompt I want to write for mentions smut, but I am a minor/not comfortable writing smut. What should I do?
Unless it is a necessary part of the plot, you do not need to include the smut, even if it is mentioned in the prompt. Comfort first!
Can I put a moodboard or playlist in my fic?
Moodboards: initially, no. Please submit your moodboard in the Fic Submission Form, it will be revealed during the Author Reveals. You are free to add it to your fic after the reveals.
Playlists: yes, if you can stay anonymous. Recommending songs to listen to in the Notes part of the fic might be a safer option. Again, you are free to add it after the reveals!
I don’t think I can finish my fic by the Fic Submission Deadline, can I get an extension?
Yes! Please DM on Twitter if you want a deadline extension.🍊FORMS
Is there a Claiming form?
Nope! The only form for this fest is the Fic Submission Form that you need to submit along with your fic.
What is the Reveal Message in the Fic Submission Form?
It’s a small message that will be a part of the Author Reveals. It can be your thought process, a message to the readers, etc. It can be anything!
